I visited Durham by train from home in York. The city of Durham is a historic city in North East England. It is on the river Wear. It was founded in 995AD. Durham is a hilly city, with winding cobbled streets. There are lovely riverside walks. Durhams pride and joy is the Norman Cathedral, which dominates the hill top, along with the Castle. The Castle is 11th century. The tomb of Saint Cuthbert is in the Cathedral. Durham is a University city. Bill Bryson called Durham a " Perfect little City " Newcastle is 18 miles north. Durham railway station is on the East Coast Main Line. London takes about 3 hours.----Plenty of Tea Rooms and Pubs for the tourists.-------------------

It's such a difficult time for everyone everywhere. Good for you to keep yourself busy writing up blogs.I've been doing a bit of that myself. Let's hope this is over soon. Stay safe. In 2003 I thought SARS would never end it was bad here, but it went. Thank God it eventually went away. At some point this must o the same.

Beautiful Alec. I have some of the same photos you put here. Durham is such a lovely city. We stayed in a small hotel at the edge of town and took the bus into town. The cathedral is wonderful. I always enjoy your posts.
